I read an article on confederate "heroes" which mentioned General Longstreet, which brought me to this massacre. Louisiana was certainly a mess in the 1870's. I had no idea. The history books offer a brief oversight of what happened. I'm guessing the Texas history books will end up offering a much briefer oversight. Thanks for this forgotten bit of history.
