Right and Left Join Forces on Criminal Justice
In the next several months, the Supreme Court will decide at least a half-dozen cases about the rights of people accused of crimes involving drugs, sex and corruption. Civil liberties groups and associations of defense lawyers have lined up on the side of the accused.

The FBI said Monday it has reopened investigations into three more Alabama slayings from the 1960s, including one case involving a former state trooper charged in 2007 with another civil-rights era murder.

Census Jobs Provide Opportunity for Reaching Hard-to-Count Populations
The initiative is intended to ensure that the hardest-to-count populations – including communities of color, children, persons with disabilities, and people who speak a language other than English – are fully counted. Available positions include census takers, crew leaders, supervisors, and administrative personnel.
Property owner sued for refusing to rent to blacks
A south suburban rental agent who allegedly refused to rent properties to African-Americans was sued in federal court Monday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Justice Department Civil Rights Division announced.
