n 1968, the United States Government passed Title VIII, Civil Rights Act of 1968 and created a policy to create fairness in housing. It states that it is unlawful to discriminate in the sale, rental and financing of housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. In 2006, the State of Washington included sex orientation. The policy also goes on to say that it is unlawful to publish anything that may limit or discriminate any of the above.

The Division on Civil Rights has thrown its support behind a woman who sued a Mercer County apartment complex charging unlawful source-of-income discrimination.

East Haven Police Being Investigated Over Racial Bias Complaints

The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating allegations of “patterns or practices of discrimination” by the East Haven police department, a spokesman said Wednesday evening.
African-American joblessness – nearly twice the national rate – is quickly becoming the first showdown between Black leaders and the nation’s first Black president as national Black and civil right leaders raise their voices telling the Obama Administration it’s time to end the jobs crisis in the Black community.
