I'm glad to see the Environmental Working Group is starting to pay attention to this issue. I mentioned it to them several years ago because I felt they were missing the hazards of all sorts of hair products in use by African American women.

Living overseas, I wear my hair in Dreads because there is no one here with any experience with Black hair (I had worn it in twists and was tired of spending hours twisting my hair). I have to say, my hair is the longest I can ever remember it being in just five years.

Great article; I'll be sharing it on Facebook.

This is amazing... I can't believe this information is not put out the a broader audience. I always knew there were more adversed side effects to relaxers than just hair loss, and burning of the skin. Wonderful article, and this definetly makes you wonder why more research hasn't been conducted despite the fact that over 80% of black women has relaxed hair!
