I agree it was a good performance but riddled with half truths and out right lies (i.e. laying our problems at the feet of Bush even with Democratic majorities), closed door health care planning sessions and then crying where's your input, promising C-Span coverage, promising to eliminate earmarks, promising to cut the debt while asking to raise discretionary (not war related) debt limits, being as partisan as it gets and yet calling for bi-partisanship, omitting the Nebraska/Louisiana "purchase" back door agreemnets, lamenting about the inherited deficit while increasing it exponentially.

Expanding government and the debt is not some "wild eyed plot" and President Obama knows it. He seems to be taking his speaking points from talk radio as much as anyone else.

At this rate the economy will go into hyper inflation which will HURT LOW INCOME AND THE MIDDLE CLASS!
The President and Congress' gas is paid for. Remember $4.00 gas who did it hurt the most? Will road projects really help unemployment; and black unemployment specifically? That's an easy answer how many black folks have union construction cards? A very small wedge of our population. Will Robert Reich's remark of the reality of white males predominately being employed for construction stand or will the President come up with a truly bi-partisan solution that accept the reality that white construction workers cannot be expected to take this lying down or the reality that blacks have been excluded from the trades. This will take leadership and less forensics. This is not about winning a debate. Law school is over.

Our President can make a good speech and go toe-toe verbally, but this alone will not get any substantive policys through. His speech could have been given to Democrats who are ducking their constituents on helath care/debt/homeland security and they have been at every ribbon cutting as well.

This is about getting things done and not lecturing the other side...this goes for Rpublicans and Independents as well. The election is over and President Obama has won. It's time to lead, drop the blame game and stop looking ahead to the next election.
