Roy Brown

In 1992, Roy Brown was convicted of the murder of a social-service worker in upstate New York based on unreliable testimony that bite marks on the victim’s body matched Brown’s teeth. After Brown discovered undisclosed documents implicating another man, he wrote a letter to the man stating that DNA evidence would reveal him as the true murderer. The man committed suicide five days after the letter was mailed, and DNA testing on the man’s daughter confirmed Brown’s investigation. Brown, an Innocence Project client, was officially exonerated three years ago this week.

  1. Dear Roy,

Great Job for fighting the system of New York State! I am going through something similar where I have done the job of the investigators, the police, and everyone else, yet I can not get any answers on the death of my father, a 31 year Army Veteran. The story has changed so many times yet I am looked at as the “daughter” who is just jealous. Colonel Anthony Ellis told me in a written time line “I had some long standing issues with my family that is why I am uncomfortable with the investigation!” I was never questioned yet the lead Investigator says he called me on Saturday July 21 2007 and spoke with me and that I could not give im a time-line when I would be coming to NY. He never called me. I would not know this man if he stood in front of me and I certainly would not know his voice! This is all happeneing in Oswego County. I know my father was killed in his home. He was nude window screens were slashed and the screen above his bed had been removed. His Masonic ring was switched off his life line and after developing the pictures I took and buying an enhancer you can positively see the blood splatter. Until I get the truth I cant go to Arlington to visit my father. The crime scene was cleaned up before any help was even dispatched to my fathers home. Yet, it is so amazing what an enhancer picked up that the naked eye could never have seen. The Investigator took the word of a neighbor and an ex-wife,took fathers meds and they were destroyed. Where do I go from here? Thank-you. I am so proud of you. Oh there is so much more proof. D Hibbs SC
