So begins an article in the current issue of the National Law Journal announcing its list of “The Decade’s Most Influential Lawyers.”
Among that illustrious group are two of the leaders of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. John Payton, LDF President and Director-Counsel, was one of four attorneys named to the publication’s list of the most influential attorneys in the field of civil rights law. And Theodore V. Wells, Jr., co-chair of the LDF Board of Directors and a partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, was one of four attorneys named as one of the decade’s four most influential litigators.
